Jang Keun Suk’s ‘Just Crazy’ makes history on the Oricon

Jang Geun Suk‘s first Japanese studio album, ‘Just Crazy‘, has been revealed to have topped Japan’s Oricon weekly chart!

Released on May 30th, the album topped the Oricon daily chart immediately after its release. In its first week alone, the album sold 88,000 copies, which has secured itself a spot at the top of the weekly chart as well.

Since Moriyama Naota‘s record in 2004, Jang Geun Suk marks the first male solo artist to top both the daily and the weekly charts in eight years, in addition to being the first male international solo artist.

As remarkable as the feat is, he’s no stranger to topping the chart, as his first single release, ‘Let Me Cry‘, topped the Oricon daily and weekly, which means that both his first single and studio albums ranked at the top of the daily and weekly charts. This was only accomplished by Uchida Yuki in 1994 and 1995, making Jang Geun Suk the first in nearly 17 years and four months.

In related news, Jang Geun Suk will be kicking off his ‘2012 Jang Geun Suk Asia Tour THE CRI SHOW 2‘ starting with Seoul in July.

In commemoration of Jang Keun Suk‘s debut album “Just Crazy,” his special program “Just Crazy” World will be webcast for 24 hours on NICO NICO LIVE.

The full title of the program is “Special  24-Hour Program ‘Just Crazy’ World in Nico Nico Live Broadcast in Commemoration of the Release of Jang Geun Suk’s 1st Album ‘Just Crazy.’“

The program starts at 21:00 on May 29. It’s the same day of Love Rain final episode. For watching the program, you have to sign up as a NICO NICO LIVE membership.
